Regular Review of Vehicle Registration in Uttar Pradesh 🚗
Under the Yogi government’s instructions, the Transport Department is closely monitoring the vehicle registration system in Uttar Pradesh. This review aims to ensure that the registration process is timely, transparent, and citizen-friendly.
Actions Taken Against Irregularities ⚖️
Between January and March 2025, the department took action against dealers who failed to follow the registration procedures. Data from the vehicle 4.0 portal revealed that some dealers delivered vehicles without proper registration. Investigations showed that necessary documents were often incomplete or hard to read, and departmental guidelines were ignored.
Common Issues Found 🔍
Several irregularities were noted during the review:
- The vehicle was handed over before registration.
- Documents uploaded were unreadable or incomplete.
- Files from the department were not improved despite requests.
- Registration certificates (RC) were not provided to vehicle owners on time.
Show Cause Notices Issued 📜
Due to these issues, show cause notices were issued to 51 dealers, including a major dealer from Lucknow. They must respond with clear explanations within 14 days, or they risk having their trade certificates suspended or canceled.
Departmental Negligence Addressed 🏢
The department also found that some Assistant Divisional Transport Officers were not properly monitoring registration files. Show cause notices were sent to 28 of these officers as well.
Commitment to Citizens’ Services 🤝
Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh emphasized that the goal is to provide timely services to citizens. Any negligence will be dealt with seriously, and action will be taken against those responsible. The department is committed to ensuring that vehicle registration services are efficient and reliable for everyone.
