Construction Of Aqua Link Line Metro From Botanical Garden To Sector-142 Set To Begin By Year-End, Nmrc Initiates Topography Survey.

Construction Update on Sector-142 Aqua Line Metro

The construction of the Sector-142 Aqua Line Metro, starting from the Botanical Garden, is set to begin by the end of this year. The Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC) is planning to conduct a topography survey soon. This survey will help determine the height, depth, size, and location of the land, which is essential for preparing the project’s design.

Once the design is ready, it will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for approval. After receiving the necessary permissions, NMRC will issue a tender for the construction of the link line.

Project Report Under Review

The detailed project report (DPR) for this metro line is currently under consideration by the Central Government. Recently, NMRC management provided additional information requested by the government regarding the project. It is expected to take about six months to finalize the tender after receiving the central government’s approval. Consequently, construction is anticipated to commence by the end of this year.

New Metro Corridor Details

According to NMRC Managing Director Dr. Lokesh M, this new link line will stretch over 11.56 kilometers. The DPR has been approved by the state cabinet and is awaiting central approval in the coming months. The project will take approximately five years to complete, with an estimated daily ridership of around 1.25 lakh people. The total construction cost is projected to be about 2,254.35 crores.

Once operational, the Botanical Garden Metro Station will become the largest interchange between the Blue Line, which runs from Dwarka in Delhi to Sector-62 in Noida, and the Magenta Line from Botanical Garden to Janakpuri. This new link will significantly benefit passengers traveling to Noida International Airport and other areas in Noida and Greater Noida.

Existing and New Connections

Currently, the Aqua Line Metro connects Sector-51 metro station to the Greater Noida depot, covering a total distance of 29.707 kilometers. The Blue Line of the Delhi Metro connects to the Sector-52 metro station, but travelers currently need to walk about 300 meters for this interchange. The new link will eliminate that inconvenience.

A new platform will be constructed at the Botanical Garden Metro Station to facilitate this connection, ensuring that the Aqua Line track remains separate from the DMRC tracks. The station will also have separate token counters for the new link.

Stations and Parking Facilities

The new metro corridor will have eight stations: Botanical Garden, Sector-44, Noida Administrative Building, Sector-97, Sector-105, Sector-108, Sector-93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. The final station will be Sector-142, which is already prepared for service.

To improve commuter convenience, there will be parking facilities in and around the metro stations, addressing past challenges experienced with the Aqua Line corridor. The aim is to enhance parking availability for all visitors.
