Delhi Voters Get a Day Off for Elections
The voters of Delhi, who are working in the Gautam Budh Nagar district, will enjoy a public holiday on Wednesday, February 5. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has issued a formal permission letter for this. He encouraged all voters to participate in the Delhi Assembly elections and exercise their right to vote, emphasizing the importance of strengthening democracy.
Holiday for Workers and Employees
This holiday will benefit workers and personnel across various businesses and industries in the area. The District Magistrate warned that action will be taken against anyone who violates this order.
Public Holiday Declared in Delhi
The General Administration Department of the Delhi government also declared a public holiday on February 5, ensuring that all employees in government departments, local bodies, and public sector companies can take the day off to vote.
EVMs Arrive Under Tight Security
On February 4, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) began arriving at polling stations in Delhi under strict security measures. Special strong rooms have been set up at ITI Nand Nagari and Khelgaon in East Delhi. The Election Office has planned to manage the crowd at EVM distribution centers effectively, with distribution taking place in three phases.
Distribution Plan to Avoid Traffic Jams
EVMs will be transported to polling stations using 121 buses. To prevent traffic congestion, the Delhi Traffic Police will manage the routes near EVM distribution centers. There are six assembly constituencies, with a total of 186 polling stations and 1020 polling stages, and the distribution is expected to start on Tuesday morning.
Special Arrangements for Voters
This time, there will be a special focus on reducing crowding during the EVM distribution. Each assembly constituency will feature a pink booth led by women. All polling stations are ready, and selfie points have been set up. Volunteers will assist at the centers, and facilities such as wheelchairs for the elderly and disabled will be available. CCTV cameras have also been installed for security.
Campaigning Ends, Focus on Voter Participation
As of January 18, the election campaign has come to a close. All candidates from various parties held extensive road shows until 5 PM on the last day. Now, the administration is fully focused on encouraging voter participation. Booth agents are distributing handbills related to EVMs, and BLOs (Booth Level Officers) are providing voters with slips and information about help lines and booth locations.
