Weather Changes in North India
Recently, there was a surprising spike in temperatures across several North Indian states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. However, it looks like winter is making a comeback as the mercury is starting to drop again. The Meteorological Department has forecasted a further decrease of two to three degrees Celsius in the region, which means we can expect the cold to intensify. Additionally, a cold wave warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana for the next couple of days. So, if you were thinking about ditching your winter clothes, you might want to reconsider!
Current Weather Conditions
In the past 24 hours, cold wave conditions have been reported in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. There’s also been dense to very dense fog in places like Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. On January 25, light to moderate rain is anticipated in Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast Assam. It’s worth noting that a new Western Disturbance is expected to bring rain and even snowfall to the Western Himalayan region on January 29 and 30, so stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh are experiencing temperatures below freezing, while places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are hovering between one to five degrees Celsius.
Forecast for the Coming Days
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department predicts that minimum temperatures in northwest India will drop by another two to three degrees Celsius over the next three days, which will likely make things feel even chillier. Central India is expected to remain relatively stable temperature-wise for the next few days, but after that, we might see a slight increase of two to three degrees. Cold wave conditions are also expected in Rajasthan today and in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab from January 25 to 27. Be prepared for dense fog in various regions, including West Bengal and Bihar, and keep an eye out for frost in some areas of Uttarakhand today.
