Online registration for private schools in Delhi is set to kick off on February 2. This registration process is specifically for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
According to recent guidelines, parents looking to enroll their children in Nursery, Kindergarten (KG), or Class I can begin submitting applications online. The detailed instructions for this process were outlined in a circular released by the Delhi Directorate of Education (DOE) on January 3, ensuring that families have all the necessary information at their fingertips.
Application Timeline and Age Criteria
The online application window opens on February 3 and will remain open until February 19. After this period, the first round of computerized draws to select students will take place on March 3.
For those applying under the EWS and DG categories, the age criteria stipulate that children should be three to five years old for Nursery, four to six years for KG, and five to seven years for Class I as of March 31. Meanwhile, for CWSN applicants, the age limits are slightly broader, allowing children aged three to seven for Nursery, four to eight for KG, and five to nine for Class I.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
To qualify under the EWS category, families must have an annual income of less than Rs five lakh, supported by an income certificate from the Revenue Department of Delhi. Additionally, families who are below the poverty line or hold Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards are also eligible for admissions.
The DG category encompasses children from SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) backgrounds, orphans, transgender individuals, and those affected by HIV.
For children with disabilities, a government-issued disability certificate is necessary, but they are exempt from providing an income certificate. This initiative aims to ensure that children from diverse backgrounds have access to quality education in Delhi’s private schools.
