Improvement in Pollution Levels
Recently, Delhi has experienced a noticeable improvement in air quality, thanks to continuous rains and cooler winds. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has shown a downward trend over the past few days, with readings starting at 409 on December 22 and dropping to 369 by December 24. This change has brought some relief to residents who have been struggling with poor air quality. The combination of rain and cold winds has played a crucial role in cleansing the air, making it easier for people to breathe.
Restrictions Lifted in Delhi-NCR
In light of the improved air quality, the Phase-4 restrictions under the Global Air Pollution Emergency Plan (GREP) have been lifted. This means that construction activities can now resume across Delhi-NCR, allowing workers to get back to their jobs. Additionally, diesel trucks that transport non-essential goods are now permitted to enter the city again, which will help ease logistics for many businesses. With the end of Phase-4 restrictions, only the measures from Phase-3 will remain in effect, marking a significant step towards normalcy for the region.
Chilly Weather Ahead of Christmas
As the rains have passed, the temperature in Delhi has settled at around 20.8°C, and there is a chance of even colder weather due to ongoing cold winds and light rain during the nights. Looking ahead to Christmas, the weather is expected to stay chilly, especially with the cold winds continuing to blow through the region. Meanwhile, the beauty of the nearby mountains has been enhanced by recent snowfall in Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, creating a picturesque winter landscape that many will surely appreciate this holiday season.
