Delhi'S First Cactus Park Set To Open By December 15, Featuring 450 Colorful Cactus Plants.

The first cactus park of the Delhi Municipal Corporation is set to open its doors by December 15. Located near the Deshbandhu Society in IP Extension, this park will feature 450 vibrant cactus plants across 15 different species. These unique plants have been sourced from Odisha, and the park’s entrance is nearing completion. It promises to be a wonderful spot for families to unwind and enjoy the beauty of these fascinating plants.

A Unique Theme for the Park

Originally, the land for this park was under the jurisdiction of the DDA, which transferred it to the Municipal Corporation last year. Initially, there were plans to develop a general park, but after some discussions, officials decided to pursue a themed cactus park, a concept that was lacking in the area.

Once the idea was approved, work began under the Amrit Yojana scheme in June, with a budget of around Rs 50 lakh. With 90 percent of the work already finished, Rajit Gangwar, the Assistant Director of the Shahdara South Zone, is confident that everything will be ready by the promised date.

Beautiful Landscaping and Facilities

This park will not only showcase various cactus species like Ferro Cactus, Rebutia Cactus, Melo Cactus, and others, but it will also include a specially built poly house to protect the saplings. The landscaping efforts are in full swing, with mounds and stones being arranged to enhance the park’s aesthetic appeal. Visitors will find benches for relaxation and a walking path surrounded by flowering plants, making it a perfect place to enjoy nature. Overall, this cactus park is shaping up to be a delightful addition to the community.
