The Noida Authority is gearing up to address the traffic congestion on DND and Film City routes. A survey conducted by an appointed agency has been completed, and the authority is now preparing to release tenders based on the report’s recommendations.
The area between Chilla Border, Mahamaya Flyover, and DND witnesses heavy daily traffic, especially during peak hours. The survey revealed that approximately 6.5 lakh vehicles pass through DND every day, with 60,000 vehicles using the loop towards the expressway, 5,625 heading towards Chilla Border, and 36,000 vehicles moving towards Rajnigandha underpass.
Key Findings and Proposed Solutions:
- Narrow Loops Causing Congestion:
The loop connecting Sector 15A and 16A Film City is narrow and unable to handle the increasing traffic volume. The loop width reduces from 7.8 meters to just 5 meters at some points.
- Immediate Plan:
- The loop’s width will be increased by 1.5 to 2 meters by demolishing the retaining wall and extending it towards the link road.
- This solution will cost around ₹2 crore but is only a short-term fix.
- Long-term Plan:
- A parallel bridge adjacent to the existing DND bridge is proposed to accommodate future traffic demands.
