Set to be the company’s largest SUV, the upcoming E SUV will cater to families and explorers alike, addressing the growing demand for spacious, three-row vehicles, the company said. Scheduled to be unveiled at the LA Auto Show in November, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 takes inspiration from the SEVEN concept first introduced in 2021.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Design Inspired by Culture

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will feature a distinctive design with a full-width LED light bar and the ‘parametric pixel’ aesthetic, elements also seen on the Ioniq 5 and 6. The side profile retains features from the SEVEN concept, including a strong D-pillar and squared-off wheel arches. While teased images do not reveal the rear, the Ioniq 9 is expected to sport Pixel LED tail lights forming a T-shape.

Interestingly, Hyundai has indicated that the design is influenced by the hanbok, a traditional Korean garment, and luxury boat aesthetics.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Expected Specs

Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 9 may offer battery options similar to the Kia EV9, with speculated configurations of 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh. This could result in power outputs ranging from approximately 215 to 576 horsepower.

Hyundai is expected to release more details and teasers leading up to the unveiling of the Ioniq 9 at the LA Auto Show. The company aims to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle market and expand options for zero-emission transportation.
