All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has created 11 new Assistant Professor positions at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) located in Jhajjar, Haryana. This includes five new positions in the Pathology and Microbiology departments, which will improve diagnostic capabilities and patient care π§ͺπ¬.
Boosting Cancer Care in NCR πͺπΏ
The newly created positions aim to strengthen the medical staff at NCI, leading to better diagnostic facilities for cancer patients in the National Capital Region (NCR). Along with this, the number of Palliative Care doctors will also increase, ensuring that patients receive better and more comprehensive palliative care services. This is a crucial step towards improving the quality of life for cancer patients requiring long-term care and support.
NCI Struggles with Doctor Shortage ππ¨ββοΈ
Currently, NCI is struggling with a shortage of doctors, particularly in the Pathology and Microbiology departments. Due to this lack of medical professionals, patient samples from NCI often need to be sent to AIIMS Delhi for testing, causing delays in diagnosis and treatment. The new appointments are expected to resolve this issue and expedite the diagnostic process, offering timely care to cancer patients.
New Positions Created to Bridge the Gap π₯π©Ί
To address the ongoing doctor shortage, AIIMS has created new positions, including:
- 3 Assistant Professors in Pathology
- 2 Assistant Professors in Microbiology
These additions will not only reduce the workload but will also eliminate the need to send samples to Delhi, speeding up the treatment process for cancer patients.
Expanding Palliative and Preventive Care Services πΏπ
In addition to the new faculty positions in pathology and microbiology, AIIMS has also created positions for other critical roles:
- 3 Assistant Professors in Palliative Care
- 1 Assistant Professor in Preventive Oncology
- 1 Assistant Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- 1 Assistant Professor in Biostatistics
These roles will further expand the scope of preventive cancer care, improve rehabilitation services, and bolster data analysis for cancer treatment, making NCI a more robust institution for comprehensive cancer care.
