Bihar is all set to welcome a new and faster way to travel between Delhi and Patna with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. After the NDA government came to power for the third consecutive term, Bihar’s rail infrastructure is seeing significant upgrades, and this new train is one of them. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is designed to offer a comfortable, fast, and safe journey for long-distance travelers.
Recently, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the prototype of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. This sleeper version will soon be running on various long-distance routes, and the first route is going to be between Delhi and Patna. It is expected to start operations in the next 2 to 3 months.
Key Features of the Delhi to Patna Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
Quicker Travel Time
The new Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Patna significantly. While regular trains take longer, this train will cover the distance in just 8 hours at a top speed of 160 km/h. This will provide a faster option for passengers traveling between the two capitals. Details regarding the stops on this route will be announced soon.
More Berths, More Comfort
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will have 16 coaches with a total of 823 berths. Compared to the 8 coaches and 530 seats available in the Vande Bharat chair car version, this sleeper train offers more seating and comfort, especially for overnight journeys.
Affordable Fares
For passengers concerned about the cost, the fare for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is expected to be similar to that of the Rajdhani Express. The current fares for the Delhi-Patna route on the Rajdhani Tejas Express are as follows:
- Third AC: ₹2,485
- Second AC: ₹3,415
- First AC: ₹4,220
This means the Vande Bharat Sleeper will provide a high-speed, comfortable journey at a reasonable cost, making it accessible for the middle-class and frequent travelers.
Advanced Features
The Vande Bharat Sleeper is equipped with new technology and modern features to ensure a comfortable and secure journey:
- Berths are secured with an improved mechanism, moving away from the old chain system.
- The driver’s cabin has been redesigned for better functionality.
- Additional safety features include special compartments for maintenance staff.
- The train also comes with enhanced security features to ensure passengers’ safety during their travel.
