In a major development, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has overcome land acquisition challenges for establishing new sectors in the region. After receiving approval from the state cabinet to purchase over 5% of the land, YEIDA has prepared a proposal to acquire 6,000 hectares of land from 40 villages. This proposal will be sent to the state government for final approval.
Earlier, YEIDA was unable to move forward with its plans as the 5% land acquisition limit in the district had already been exhausted. However, considering the importance of the development projects in the district, the district administration had requested the government to raise the limit to 20%, which was recently approved.
Interest-Free Loan for Land Acquisition
To facilitate the land acquisition, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided YEIDA with an interest-free loan of ₹3,000 crore. YEIDA will have to match this amount using its own resources. To meet this requirement, YEIDA recently signed an agreement with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), which will provide the authority with a ₹10,000 crore loan for the projects.
Planned Development in New Sectors
As part of the YEIDA Master Plan 2041, the land to be acquired will be used to develop several planned sectors, including:
- Sector 5
- Sector 7
- Sector 8 and 8A
- Sector 9
- Sector 10
- Sector 11
These sectors will have residential, institutional, industrial, and multi-purpose use categories. Once the land acquisition is complete, YEIDA will launch schemes for plot allocation in these sectors, aimed at boosting infrastructure and development in the region.
