New Delhi, Chief Correspondent – After a scorching summer, Delhi’s record-breaking rainfall is proving to be deadly. Following heavy rains on Friday, the city continued to be lashed by showers on Saturday, leading to the tragic deaths of five more individuals in two different incidents. This brings the total death toll to 11 in just two days.
Flooded Underpasses and Streets
The relentless rain has caused significant flooding across various parts of the city, submerging roads and underpasses. On Saturday, the Sirsapur underpass was filled with approximately three feet of water.
A child named Gopal was playing and bathing in the water with a friend when both tragically drowned. Authorities are working to identify the second child.
Construction Site Tragedy in Vasant Vihar
In the Vasant Vihar area, early Friday morning rainfall flooded the basement of a building under construction. Fears that three people had fallen into the water led to a search operation.
By Saturday morning, three bodies were recovered. Two of the deceased have been identified as Santosh Yadav (19) and Santosh (20) from Bihar, while the third victim has been identified as Dayaram (45) from Jhansi.
