In a significant relief for commuters traveling between Delhi and Agra, plans are underway to expand the Ballabhgarh Railway Flyover on the Delhi-Agra Highway to seven lanes.
This expansion aims to ease the traffic congestion that has long plagued this route. The project was officially inaugurated by Union State Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar and Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma on Saturday, with a commitment to expedite the construction process.
All About the ₹150 Crore Flyover Project
The new flyover is estimated to cost around ₹150 crore and is expected to be completed within a year and a half. Construction is set to begin in approximately three months. The flyover will start from the Ballabhgarh Anaj Mandi cut and will be built on pillars.
It will extend beyond Elson Chowk, with U-turns at both ends to facilitate easy movement for vehicles. The design ensures that drivers can smoothly transition from the flyover to the highway or local sectors, such as Sector-25 or Sabzi Mandi.
Risky Road Crossings to be a Thing of the Past
Currently, traffic congestion at JCB Chowk and Elson Chowk is exacerbated by traffic lights and pedestrians crossing the highway by jumping over barriers. The existing four-lane flyover causes vehicles to crawl, but the upcoming seven-lane expansion promises a smoother journey for those heading to Delhi or Agra.
Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma’s Statement
At the inauguration, Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma emphasized the ongoing efforts to decongest Ballabhgarh. Elevated flyovers are being constructed on Ballabhgarh-Mohna Road and the Ballabhgarh-Sohna Railway Flyover is being widened.
The new elevated railway flyover on the Delhi-Agra Highway is set to begin soon, transforming Ballabhgarh into an elevated assembly constituency.
