On February 16, 2024, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the Old Gurugram Metro project. With an estimated cost of ₹5,452.72 crores, the 28.5-kilometer metro route will feature 27 stations.
The metro will start from Millennium City Centre Metro Station and pass through Bakhtawar Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Sector 9-9A, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 4-7, Palam Vihar, Sector 23-23A, Udyog Vihar, and finally reach Cyber City.

- Exploring Expansion Possibilities:
- Gurgaon Metro Rail Limited and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) are exploring potential expansions on the Galleria Road.
- Plans are underway to connect Millennium City Centre Station to the Rapid Metro’s Sector 42-43 Station via Golf Course Road.
- Stations Under Planning:
- The exact number of stations along this new route hasn’t been finalized yet.
- An HMRTC official noted that GMDA has green areas along the road that could accommodate new stations.
- Private Company Engagement:
- The extension plan from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City, via Old Gurugram, has seen progress with a geotechnical survey covering up to 5 kilometers.
- HMRTC has entrusted a private company to survey 12.76 km of the 28.5-kilometer metro route.
- Widening of Roads:
- GMDA also plans to widen the existing road. A half-meter divider will be maintained in the middle, with road expansion on both sides.
The Old Gurugram Metro project is poised to enhance connectivity across key regions and significantly improve commuter convenience, with the collaboration of various entities for streamlined development.
