The railways offer substantial discounts of up to 75% on tickets for certain individuals, recognizing their special needs or contributions. This discount applies to:
- People with Disabilities: Individuals who are physically handicapped, mentally challenged, or completely blind and unable to travel without assistance benefit from a 75% discount on tickets in general, sleeper, and third AC classes. For second and first AC, the discount provided is up to 50%.
- Patients: Concessions are available for patients suffering from severe illnesses like TB, kidney diseases, cancer, and non-communicable diseases, including heart conditions.
- Additional Beneficiaries: Students, war widows, widows of IPKF personnel, widows of Kargil martyrs, widows of defence personnel killed in action against terrorists and extremists, national award-winning teachers, Shram Award-winning industrial workers, widows of police personnel martyred in action against terrorism, Police Medal awardees, Dronacharya Award-winning coaches, and sportspersons are also eligible for ticket fare concessions under specific rules
