LG VK Saxena has approved the long-pending land acquisition for the Urban Extension Road (UER-II). This information was disclosed by government officials on Wednesday. UER-II planning aims to alleviate congestion between North and South-West Delhi by implementing a bypass. LG has given approval for the acquisition of two acres of land in Bharthal village.
🛣️ Critical Land Acquisition for the Project
Acquiring land for this project was crucial. The delay in acquiring this land caused a seven-year delay in project completion. DDCA urged for land acquisition in Bharthal village, South-West Delhi, back in April 2016.
⏰ Significant Delays in the Project
However, due to various challenges, land acquisition couldn’t be accomplished, resulting in significant delays in completing the UER-II project. It is proposed under the UER Delhi Master Plan, developed as the third ring road in Delhi. The proposed road aims to alleviate traffic on Dhula Kuwa and the existing ring road.
🛣️ Proposed Road Connectivity
UER-II was proposed by DDCA, involving the construction of roads from NH-1 to NH-2. It includes connecting areas like Narela, Bawana, and Rohini in North Delhi to Dwarka Sub City, IGI Airport, and Gurugram. Moreover, preparations are underway to connect important national highways in Western Delhi through this road.
📈 Anticipated Benefits
After the completion of UER-II, people from Southern and Eastern parts of Haryana (including Ambala, Panipat, Karnal, Rohtak, and Bahadurgarh) will find it more convenient to travel to Delhi, Gurugram, and further to Rajasthan.
