Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi is set to become a significant transportation hub with the development of the Regional Rail Transit System (RRTS) station. To facilitate smooth connectivity between the nearby Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, metro station, and the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal), a comprehensive multi-modal integration plan is being implemented.

Delhi’s Second Largest Skywalk

  • The construction of a skywalk will link various public transport options, making travel convenient for commuters.
  • This will be the second-largest skywalk in Delhi after the ITO W Point skywalk.

Delhi SNB’s Rapid Train Incoming

  • The Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will be the largest transport hub, connecting Delhi with Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
  • It will not only cater to the Delhi-Meerut route but also to Delhi-Panipat and Delhi-SNB (Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror) rapid trains.
  • The station is rapidly taking shape and is expected to be a key junction in the region.

Connectivity Features

  • A 280-meter foot overbridge (FOB) will connect the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station.
  • Despite the distance being less than 500 meters, six travelators will be installed on the FOB, similar to those at airports, for the convenience of women, elderly, children, disabled individuals, and travelers with heavy luggage.

  • The RRTS station is situated approximately 85 meters from Veer Hakikat Rai ISBT. An entry/exit for the RRTS station will be constructed near the ISBT along with a foot overbridge for access.
  • The distance from the RRTS station to the Delhi Metro Pink Line station is about 70 meters. An entrance for the RRTS station will be located near the entry of Hazrat Nizamuddin metro station. A public plaza will also be featured inside the station.

The development of the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station, along with its integration with existing transport systems, marks a significant step towards enhancing Delhi’s public transport infrastructure.

The multi-modal integration plan, including the construction of the second-largest skywalk, aims to provide seamless and convenient connectivity for commuters across different modes of transportation
