In anticipation of the Republic Day Parade on January 26th, significant changes have been made to the Delhi Metro’s schedule and the bus routes in the capital. These modifications are aimed at facilitating smooth transit for those attending the parade and ensuring security measures are in place for this national event.

Delhi Metro Schedule Adjustments

  • Early Operation Hours: On January 26th, metro train operations will commence at 4 AM, enabling people to reach the duty path on time for the parade viewing. From 4 AM to 6 AM, metro trains on all lines will be available at 30-minute intervals.

 

  • Normal Operations Post 6 AM: After 6 AM, the metro will follow its standard timetable. Anuj Dayal, DMRC’s Executive Director of Corporate Communication, stated that those with e-invitation cards or e-tickets to the Republic Day ceremony will be provided with coupons to travel to the duty path.

 

  • Free Travel for E-Invitation and E-Ticket Holders: Passengers must present their e-invitation card or e-ticket along with a government-recognized photo ID at designated metro station counters. Travel to the duty path will be free of charge for these individuals, with the cost being reimbursed to DMRC by the Ministry of Defence.

 

Changes to Bus Routes

  • Route Diversions: Bus routes will also undergo changes on January 26th. There will be no traffic allowed on Vijay Chowk, Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg-Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg-Delhi Gate-Netaji Subhash Marg.

 

  • Parade Route and Timing: The Republic Day Parade will start at Vijay Chowk after 4 AM, passing through Rajpath, India Gate, R.A. Princess Place, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, and Netaji Subhash Marg, finally reaching the Red Fort. Due to the parade, vehicle traffic on this route will be diverted from 4 AM onwards, and will follow the directions of the traffic police.

 

These changes in Delhi Metro’s schedule and bus routes are vital for managing the large influx of visitors and maintaining order during the Republic Day Parade.
