As India gears up for its Republic Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23rd. This rehearsal for the grand parade will start at 10:30 AM from Vijay Chowk and culminate at the Red Fort. This event, a precursor to the Republic Day parade, will significantly impact traffic in various parts of Delhi.
Parade Route Extends to Red Fort
Delhi Traffic Police have advised residents to plan their travel accordingly. The parade will commence at Vijay Chowk and proceed along Kartavya Path, pass through C-Hexagon, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and finally conclude at the Red Fort.
Traffic Restrictions from the Previous Night
Beginning from Monday evening at 6 PM till the end of the rehearsal on Tuesday, no traffic will be allowed on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. Additionally, from Monday night at 11 PM until the end of the parade, heavy transport vehicles and light goods vehicles will not be permitted entry into Delhi.
Compliance with Traffic Advisory Urged
The Delhi Police traffic advisory specifies that these vehicles will be allowed to travel only on the Ring Road between ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT Kashmiri Gate from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Tuesday. Motorists are requested to adhere to traffic rules and follow directions provided by personnel stationed at intersections.
Special Note on Airspace Restrictions
During this period, up until February 15th, Delhi will see a ban on unconventional aerial platforms such as paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters, and para jumping from aircraft.
