Marking a significant development, the Indian National Highways Authority has presented a proposal to the government regarding the Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway. This project aims to connect the city of Agra with Gwalior, reduce travel time, and enhance connectivity between the two cities.
Enhanced Connectivity with Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway
Agra is already well-connected with two expressways – the Agra Lucknow Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway.
The proposed Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway is set to further improve transportation links, making travel between Agra and Gwalior more convenient and efficient.
Proposal for Land Acquisition
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a notice under Section 3A for the acquisition of 117.83 hectares of land in three tehsils of the Agra district – Tehsil Sadar, Fatehabad, and Kheragarh, encompassing 15 villages. The NHAI has forwarded the proposal to the state government for approval.
Travel Time Reduction Between the Two Cities
Currently, covering the 121-kilometer distance between Agra and Gwalior takes about two and a half hours. With the proposed Greenfield Expressway, this travel time is expected to be reduced by one hour.
The expressway will span 88.40 kilometers and will feature 6 lanes, significantly easing the journey between these two important cities.
