In response to the growing demand for air travel in India, there’s a significant development underway to enhance connectivity between Delhi and the upcoming Noida International Airport. A new expressway project, approximately 32 kilometers long, is in the pipeline to facilitate easier and faster travel between these two crucial points.
Key Details of the Proposed Expressway:
- Route of the Expressway: The expressway is planned to start from Kalindi Kunj in Delhi, passing through Noida Sector-150, and will connect to the Agra Expressway. There’s also a possibility of linking it with the Mumbai-Baroda Expressway in Delhi through a rotary junction.
- Construction by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI): The authority intends to assign the construction of this expressway to NHAI and is currently in talks to finalize this collaboration.
- Two Major Benefits:
- Reduced Traffic Load: The new expressway will alleviate the vehicle congestion on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
- Direct Connectivity: It will provide direct access from the eastern regions of Delhi to the Noida Airport, significantly enhancing travel convenience.
- Survey for the Expressway: A recent survey conducted for this project covered the area from Sector-94 in Noida (near Yamuna Pushta) to Sector-150, around 28 kilometers away. There are two options under consideration: a parallel track expressway or an elevated expressway over the existing route.
- Construction Plan: The expressway’s construction is planned to be a six-lane roadway to accommodate the anticipated traffic load. To ensure seamless integration with the existing road network, two rotary junctions will be constructed at both ends of the expressway.
- Strategic Location: The expressway is strategically important as it will enter Faridabad via the Agra Yamuna Canal, with one end near the Kalindi Kunj Metro Station and another near Sector-150, where it will join the Yamuna Expressway through a cloverleaf junction.
Summary: The construction of this new expressway is a significant step towards improving the infrastructure in and around the National Capital Region, particularly in light of the upcoming Noida International Airport.
It not only promises to reduce travel time but also aims to streamline the flow of traffic, enhancing the overall travel experience for commuters and air travelers alike. This development is a testament to the growing emphasis on connectivity and infrastructure in India’s urban planning.
