Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate NaMo Bharat, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train on Friday. The NaMo Bharat will run on the 17 km long primary section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut route. Common passengers will be able to travel on the NaMo Bharat starting from Saturday.
The RRTS project aims to transform regional connectivity in the country by creating new world-class transport infrastructure. The NaMo Bharat will operate at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour, providing passengers with a fast and efficient mode of transportation.
The RapidX corridor, which includes the Sahibabad and Duhai depot, is being built at a cost of about Rs 30,000 crores. This transformative regional development initiative will ensure that the high-speed train is available for commuting every 15 minutes, with the possibility of availability every five minutes as per demand.
To enhance the passenger experience, Prime Minister Modi will launch the Rapid App. This app will provide passengers with all the information they need, including train location and booking details. Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the platform screen door installed at the station and experience ticketing from the vending machine.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the preparations for the Prime Minister’s program on October 20. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a smooth and successful inauguration event and instructed the officers to avoid any negligence. Union Minister VK Singh also accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
