New Delhi Environment Minister Writes Letter to Union Minister for Cooperation in Fight Against Pollution

New Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has written a letter to Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, seeking cooperation from neighboring states in the fight against pollution. Rai has emphasized that taking seven important steps in the National Capital Region (NCR) will lead to a significant reduction in pollution levels. The Delhi government has already undertaken several measures to combat pollution, resulting in a 30% decrease in pollution levels over the past few years. However, pollution remains severe during the winter season.

The Delhi government has implemented a Winter Action Plan to address pollution concerns. However, without cooperation from NCR states to mitigate pollution sources, these efforts may not yield significant results. A report from the Center for Science Environment reveals that 31% of Delhi’s pollution originates from internal sources, while 69% is attributed to external factors. In his letter, Gopal Rai has urged Bhupendra Yadav to take concrete measures jointly to control pollution.
