New Delhi: One Student Dead, Three Injured in Road Accident at Jawahar Lal University
One student died while three students were injured in a road accident at Jawahar Lal University late Saturday night. The accident occurred when a bike hit two students walking on foot near the Godavari bus stop inside the university campus. The student riding the bike died in the accident, while the other youth riding the bike and the two students traveling on foot are admitted in the hospital. Police is investigating the cause of the accident. The condition of the two injured students is critical. All three injured are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
According to the police, around 2.30 am on Saturday night, a bike hit two pedestrian students in the university campus. One student died in the accident, while three students were injured. The deceased student has been identified as Anshu Kumar, a 22-year-old student resident of Gaya, Bihar. Anshu Kumar was studying first year BA in Russian language while staying in Satluj hostel in JNU, while Anshu’s friend Vishal Kumar, 23, was also riding the bike. Vishal is also a resident of Gaya, Bihar. He is not a university student. Vishal’s condition is critical. The students who became victims of the bike collision include 25-year-old Sachin Sharma and Mrigank Yadav, residents of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Aligarh resident Mrigank lives in Satluj Hostel and Sachin Sharma lives in Periyar Hostel. Both are doing MA in Political Science from JNU.
DCP South-West Manoj C said that Anshu was driving the bike, while Vishal was sitting behind. Late Saturday night, Sachin and Mrigank were hit by a speeding bike while passing near the Godavari bus stop on foot.
