Half Marathon to be Organized in Delhi on Sunday
New Delhi ★A half marathon will be organized in Delhi on Sunday morning, with over 37 thousand participants expected to take part. The event will consist of three types of competitions, and the participants will be flagged off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at around 5.20 am. However, due to the marathon, traffic will be affected in certain areas of New Delhi and South Delhi from 5 to 10 am.
Traffic Arrangements and Advisory
The traffic police have made extensive arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the half marathon. From 5 to 10 am, traffic movement will be controlled along the marathon route. However, the movement of emergency vehicles will not be stopped. Depending on the number of participants, cross traffic movement will be allowed at junctions along the route. The traffic police have urged the public to maintain distance from the marathon route and use alternative routes to avoid any inconvenience.
Competition Routes
There will be three types of competitions in the half marathon, each with its own route:
- Half Marathon Amateur: Starting from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the route includes Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Sri Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharati Marg, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, and C-Hexagon, before returning to the stadium.
- 10 km Route: Starting from Jeevan Deep Building on Sansad Marg, the route includes Patel Chowk, Rafi Marg, Rail Bhawan, Kartavyapath, Janpath, Hotel Le Meridien, India Gate Canopy, C-Hexagon, and ends at JLN Stadium Complex.
- Half Marathon Elite: Starting from JLN Stadium Complex, the route includes Bhishma Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Sri Aurobindo Marg, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharati Marg, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, and C-Hexagon, before returning to the stadium.
Participants and the public are advised to follow traffic guidelines and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a successful and safe event.
