New Delhi Metro Introduces QR Code-based Tickets through Paytm App
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a new facility that allows passengers to purchase QR code-based tickets through the Paytm app. This initiative aims to make travel easier and more convenient for metro passengers in Delhi. Previously, passengers had to stand in line at vending machines to purchase tickets, but now they can simply use their smartphones to access QR code-based tickets.
This new facility not only eliminates the hassle of waiting in line but also promotes cashless transactions. Passengers can easily obtain QR code-based tickets on their smartphones, making their metro journeys more convenient and efficient.
The launch event was attended by DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar and Paytm Chief Business Officer Abhay Sharma. This new facility allows passengers to book tickets and travel across the entire metro network seamlessly. Previously, DMRC offered ticket purchase options through UPI, credit/debit cards, and net banking. The corporation is continuously working to simplify the ticket booking process further. Recently, DMRC introduced QR ticketing through ticket vending machines, mobile apps, ticket windows, and even WhatsApp.
According to the new facility, passengers can easily purchase mobile QR tickets for their desired destinations in the Delhi Metro section of the Paytm app. When passengers arrive at the metro station, they can scan their mobile QR tickets using their smartphones in front of the QR code scanner for entry and exit.
Vikas Kumar highlighted that expanding ticketing services through the app is a crucial step toward providing efficient and stress-free transportation to a large number of metro passengers in the national capital. Additionally, DMRC announced that train services will start at 3.45 am from the terminal stations of all metro lines on October 15 in light of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon.
