Fearless criminals struck in Delhi as they snatched a woman’s phone while she was sitting in an autorickshaw. However, the woman’s determination led to the arrest of the culprits. Here are the details of the incident:

The Incident

Two individuals were involved in the snatching incident that occurred in Wazirabad, North Delhi. The woman refused to let go of her phone, so the thieves pushed her inside the autorickshaw and fled towards Majnu Ka Tila. The woman, determined to retrieve her phone, chased the snatchers for about two kilometers until one of them slipped on the road and was caught.

Arrest of the Snatchers

The woman immediately informed the police when one of the snatchers fell. The second snatcher who managed to escape was later arrested. The arrested individuals have been identified as Chand Mohammad (23) and Aftab Alam (19), residents of Bawana. The incident occurred at night when the 33-year-old woman had hired an auto from Burari and was heading towards ISBT to catch a bus to her native village Jaune.

Police Appreciation

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Sagar Singh Kalsi, praised the woman’s bravery and quick thinking. He stated, “When the vehicle reached Wazirabad flyover, two boys came on a motorcycle and snatched the phone from her hand and threatened her. The woman did not give up and asked the driver to follow them.” The police swung into action and managed to arrest one of the culprits.

Revelations and Further Arrests

During interrogation, one of the arrested individuals confessed to the crime and led the police to another suspect. The accused also revealed their involvement in other thefts, particularly motorcycles and two-wheelers, over the past three months. As a result, raids were conducted, leading to the arrest of an additional accomplice. The investigation has uncovered four cases of theft across the city.
