Banks in Delhi to Remain Closed During G20 Summit

In order to manage the traffic congestion during the mega event, all banks in Delhi will remain closed from September 8 to September 10.

Reason for Bank Closures

The decision to keep banks closed during the G20 summit is aimed at minimizing traffic pressure in the city. With the arrival of numerous dignitaries and their accompanying entourages, the movement of vehicles is expected to be significant. By closing the banks, authorities hope to reduce the traffic and ensure a safe passage for the delegates from the airport to their respective hotels and other locations.

Delhi Police Conducts Mock Drill for G20 Summit

Last week, the Delhi Police conducted mock drills around Pragati Maidan, the venue of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, as well as other hotels where dignitaries are scheduled to stay. Security forces carried out this special exercise to prepare for the G20 event. Additionally, the Delhi government has announced public holidays in schools from September 8 to September 10. Furthermore, all offices, including private offices of the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, will also remain closed during this period.

Public Holiday and Metro Station Closures in Delhi

In a recent development, the Delhi Police wrote to the chief secretary, recommending the declaration of September 8 to September 10 as public holidays and the closure of most business establishments in the New Delhi area due to the G20 summit. Moreover, for security reasons, certain metro stations such as the Supreme Court and the Central Secretariat are expected to be closed. The Delhi Police assured that comprehensive arrangements are being made for the G20 summit.
