22-year-old woman killed, another injured in truck-car collision in Delhi

A 22-year-old woman was killed and another injured after a truck rammed into their car in north Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Monday morning.

Incident Details

According to the police, the incident occurred at Chandgiram Akhara red light when the driver of the Maruti car stopped behind a truck. At the red light, another truck came from behind and hit the car, killing 22-year-old Amandeep Kaur. A video from the spot shows the car in a completely crushed state after it was caught between the two trucks at the red light.

Victims and Injuries

The car driver, identified as Harminder Singh, was travelling with his aunt and his cousins from Shishganj gurudwara to Nehru Vihar in Timarpur. His aunt, Pushpa, and her daughter Amandeep Kaur were sitting in the rear seat, while another cousin, Bunty, was sitting in the passenger seat. Both Amandeep Kaur and Bunty were injured in the accident and rushed to the trauma centre. Amandeep Kaur was declared brought dead there, police said.

Investigation and Legal Action

Following the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot. The Delhi Police registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. The truck has been seized and efforts are on to arrest its driver, police added.
