★The three individuals who were arrested by the CBI were posted in Balasore and Soro, and they had a defined role in signalling at Bahanaga Bazar station, where the accident occurred.
★The suspension of the seven employees follows the report of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), which pointed out the lapses of every employee at Bahanaga level crossing and Soro and Balasore railway stations.
★The CBI had previously stated that errors in the signalling system were the cause of the accident. The arrested individuals were implicated during the investigation, although the agency has not claimed that their actions were deliberate.
★The triple-train accident resulted in nearly 1,000 injuries. So far, 39 out of the 81 bodies of the deceased have been identified with the help of DNA tests.
★The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has requested action-taken reports from the Railway Board chairman and Odisha chief secretary regarding the alleged human rights violation of the accident victims due to negligence and failure of railway authorities.
