Delhi: PWD is making double one-way single flyover to ease traffic on Ring Road

The Public Works Department (PWD) is constructing a double one-way single flyover on the Ring Road between Punjabi Bagh to Raja Garden in Delhi. Once completed, motorists will not have to face traffic congestion at this stretch of the road. The two flyovers, each with two lanes, are being doubled from one-way single, and three lanes are being made on both sides of the flyovers. The construction of the flyovers has been set to be completed by the end of this year, and the project is estimated to cost around Rs 350 crore.

The PWD is constructing a six-lane elevated corridor from ESI Hospital at Basai Darapur in Ring Road to Punjabi Bagh Club Road in Punjabi Bagh. Until now, there was a one-way single flyover of two lanes, which has been demolished. At the same time, a one-way single flyover was made on the lane going towards Raja Garden at Moti Nagar intersection in Punjabi Bagh, but now a flyover is being made here also towards Wazirpur. Apart from this, the flyover leading to Raja Garden is being made of two to three lanes.

According to PWD officials, about 60% of the construction work of both the flyovers in Punjabi Bagh has been completed, and a target has been set to complete the construction work of both these flyovers in the month of December. Additionally, an overbridge is also being constructed.

Due to the flyover, the vehicle drivers will save time, and fuel consumption will also be reduced. Not only this, but the pollution level in this area will also decrease. According to an estimate, the emission of 1.60 lakh tonnes of carbon gas will reduce here every year. In this way, 18 lakh liters of fuel will be saved every year, thus saving about 200 lives of people every year.

This project is not only beneficial for the environment but will also save crores of rupees.
