Thousands of students from all over the country come to Delhi every year to pursue their dreams, but their journey is not easy. The path of these children, who come to the coaching hub to prepare for important exams like IAS, PCS, CDS, NDA, and Chartered Accountant, is filled with danger. The recent fire at a coaching institute in Mukherjee Nagar serves as a lesson. Even 24 hours after the incident, negligence was observed in the coaching centers of Mukherjee Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, and Laxmi Nagar. Most of the multi-storey coaching institutes have only one entry and exit, and numerous electricity meters are installed next to their gate and residence. Here is the report of Amar Ujala.

Not Even Fire NOC, Fire Fighting Equipment Got Damaged

On the second day after the accident, no changes were observed in Mukherjee Nagar. The area is covered with big posters, and haphazard wires hang from somewhere, while posters cover the windows, leaving no room for air to circulate. Electric meter wires are now spread on the stairs leading to the buildings. Students say that this incident serves as a warning, but the administration is not paying attention to it. Coaching institutes do not even have fire NOC. Even if fire fighting equipment is installed somewhere, it is in a bad condition. Some of the equipment has rust on them, while some have expired dates.

Most of the buildings in Rajendra Nagar, which has become the hub of coaching centers, are new. Fire safety arrangements have been made in these buildings, but most of the resources are not updated. The cylinders kept for safety in the buildings are either old or have expired. In case of a fire, there might be a problem in extinguishing it. A large number of IAS study centers are running in Rajendra Nagar.

In conclusion, the recent fire accident at a coaching institute in Mukherjee Nagar highlights the lack of safety measures in the coaching centers of Delhi. The authorities need to take immediate action to ensure that coaching centers have fire NOC and up-to-date fire fighting equipment to prevent such incidents in the future.
