Water Crisis in Delhi: Drinking Water Supply to Be Disrupted for Two Days in Many Areas

Due to the leakage in the rising main line of Jeetgarh UGR and a crack in the Munak canal located in Sonipat, there has been a severe drinking water crisis in almost half of Delhi, including New Delhi, in the scorching heat. Repair work of the Chandrawal plant’s pipeline, which is the main source of drinking water for Delhi, will begin on Friday, and the line is expected to be repaired by Saturday.
No Supply of Drinking Water in Many Areas
According to the Delhi Jal Board, there will be no water supply from the Chandrawal plant on Friday evening and Saturday morning. The areas that will be affected include New Delhi, Civil Lines, Hindu Rao Hospital, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Paharganj, Rajendra Nagar, Patel Nagar, Baljit Nagar, Prem Nagar, Indrapuri, Cantonment area, and South Delhi area. Residents have been advised to store water and use it judiciously. In case of emergency, they can call for a water tanker.
Munak Canal Leak Not Repaired Yet
The cracks in the carrier lined channel of Munak canal near Badwasni village in Sonipat, Haryana, have not been repaired yet. Due to this, there has been a problem of raw water in drinking water supply plants in about 30 percent of Delhi, and the production of water in these plants has been affected.
In conclusion, the drinking water supply in many areas of Delhi will be disrupted for two days due to repair work, and residents have been advised to store water and use it judiciously. The authorities are working to repair the pipeline and the canal as soon as possible to provide an uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to the residents of Delhi.
