Delhi: Dwarka Expressway slab falls on JCB, driver dies

– The slab of a flyover under construction near Samalkha on NH-48 to connect Dwarka Expressway fell on a JCB, burying the driver underneath.
– The driver, Shakeel s/o Abdul Rehman, 35 years old and a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, was admitted to the trauma center of AIIMS in serious condition and later declared dead.
– The incident occurred on Wednesday at 10 am when the 20-feet long slab fell on the JCB machine of the company making the flyover while it was passing underneath.
– The site supervisor and site manager have been arrested and are being investigated by the Kapashera police station.
– According to police officials, the slab was still placed on the hydraulic block and was not tightened. The work of tightening the nuts was going on, which generated pressure and caused the slab to settle on one side and then fall.
