New Delhi: Air India, a subsidiary of Tata group, has taken action against two of its pilots for violating safety protocols by calling their girlfriends into the cockpit during a flight from Delhi to Leh on June 3. The crew reported the incident to the airline, which promptly removed the pilots from the roster. According to sources, the girlfriend of one of the pilots entered the cockpit, which is a violation of aviation rules.
A top official of the airline has confirmed that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also taken notice of the incident and said that necessary action is being taken as per the procedures. The Leh route is one of the most sensitive and difficult air routes in India, and it is illegal to allow unauthorized persons into the cockpit of a commercial aircraft.
This is not the first time Air India has faced such an incident. In February this year, the DGCA suspended the license of an Air India pilot for a similar violation. The pilot of flight AI-915 from Dubai to Delhi had also called his girlfriend into the cockpit, and the airline was fined Rs 30 lakh for not taking immediate and effective action in response to the violation.
Air India’s actions are in line with the strict safety protocols that govern the aviation industry, and the airline has taken appropriate measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. The safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance, and any breach of safety norms is taken very seriously.
In conclusion, Air India’s swift action against the pilots who violated safety protocols by calling their girlfriends into the cockpit shows the airline’s commitment to safety. The incident is being investigated, and necessary action will be taken to prevent any such violations in the future.
