Delhi Jal Board initiates 24-hour water supply from all water purifier plants

The Delhi Jal Board has taken a significant step towards ending the drinking water shortage in the capital. The Board has initiated a plan to provide 24-hour water supply to the consumers by supplying water from all water purifier plants. The mission began at the Akshardham water purifier plant.

Continuous efforts by Delhi Jal Board

The Delhi Jal Board provides drinking water through 10 water purification plants in the capital. While 24-hour water supply is available from the Akshardham water purification plant, the Board is working on providing the same service to other areas as well. Khel Village, Akshardham Temple, and Ganesh Nagar are already receiving round-the-clock water supply from the Akshardham Water Purifier Plant. Board Vice Chairman Somnath Bharti stated that the Board is making continuous efforts to provide 24-hour water supply in other areas as well.

Areas identified for 24-hour water supply

To ensure 24-hour water supply, the Board has identified many areas where pipelines have been pressed to supply water with full pressure. The areas include Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli, Najafgarh, and Nangloi. The Board is making water arrangements to start 24-hour water supply in these areas. The Board also plans to supply 24-hour water in other areas as well.

Akshardham plant to make Yamuna pollution free

The Delhi Jal Board plans to operate the Akshardham Sewerage Treatment Plant at full capacity to make the Yamuna pollution-free. Currently, only 10% of sewerage is being treated against its capacity. Board Vice Chairman Somnath Bharti has instructed officials to operate this plant with full capacity. The drain of Delhi Government passing near this plant will be connected to it by trapping, and the water of the drain will be cleaned in the plant. The water from this plant is being used for toilets, lakes, and gardening in the sports village, and a separate line has been laid for the same.
