NGT forms high-level committee headed by LG in Delhi

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has formed a high-level committee headed by Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena to clean up the Yamuna river in Delhi. However, officials of Raj Niwas have condemned Water Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj’s statement regarding the cleanliness of Yamuna. The officials said that it was only after the Delhi government’s inaction that the NGT constituted the high-powered committee. Under this committee, LG Saxena is working towards cleaning up the Yamuna.

A day earlier, Water Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj had challenged the LG to tell if he has started any project for cleaning Yamuna. Also, he said that LG Kejriwal is trying to take credit for the government’s work. However, Raj Niwas officials said that the water minister’s statement is ridiculous and anti-people. In the last eight years, the Delhi government did not do any concrete work to clean the Yamuna. The NGT had observed that the situation with respect to the cleaning of the Yamuna river remained unsatisfactory.

This move by the NGT is a step towards making the Yamuna river cleaner and safer for the environment and the people of Delhi. The committee is expected to come up with a detailed plan of action to clean the Yamuna and ensure that it remains clean in the future. This initiative will also help in reducing pollution levels and improving the quality of life for people in the city.

In conclusion, the NGT’s high-level committee headed by LG Saxena is a welcome move towards cleaning up the Yamuna river. The Delhi government needs to work together with the committee to ensure that the river remains clean in the future. The committee’s plan of action will be crucial in achieving this goal.
