Delhi University (DU) has made it mandatory for students to give the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to take admission in PhD programs. This decision was taken in the Executive Council (EC) meeting on Friday, along with other proposals.

Expansion of Programs
– The EC meeting approved the initiation of three programs of B.Tech.
– Admission to the MSc Respiratory Therapy program will also be done under CUET.

CUET for PhD Admissions
– Students will have to give CUET like graduation and post graduation to take admission in PhD.
– The entrance test for Ph.D for the academic session 2023-24 will be through national based CUET (Ph.D)-2023 conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
– However, DU serving teachers and non-teaching category will be allowed for direct interview.
– Employees will be allowed to attend classes and take exams without affecting the scheduled work during office hours.

Medical Science Courses Admission Committee (MCAC)
– The eligibility condition and seat matrix recommendations of the MCAC for admission to Undergraduate MBBS-BDS courses for the academic session 2023-24 were approved.

This move by DU is expected to streamline the PhD admissions process and make it more transparent and fair. It will also ensure that students have the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a PhD program.
