DelhiDesk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is seeking support from opposition parties against an ordinance brought by the central government regarding the Delhi government. However, the Congress party has hesitated to support him due to the Kejriwal government’s past resolution to withdraw the ‘Bharat Ratna’ from former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The controversy over power is a direct question on Dr. Ambedkar’s scholarship, according to former Legislative Assembly Secretary and constitutional expert SK Sharma. The central government has the right to make laws regarding Delhi, as all laws in Delhi have been made by the Parliament. The demand for full statehood for Delhi questions the wisdom of Dr. Ambedkar, who rejected the idea in 1947. The Kejriwal government kept trying to break the restrictions of the constitution, leading to the center enacting the NCT Government (Amendment) Act 2021. The Delhi government will now have to take the permission of the Lieutenant Governor before taking any executive decision.
