DelhiDesk: The number of school van drivers violating traffic rules in Delhi has increased, with 102 drivers caught from January 1 to April 15 this year. In 2020, 362 school van drivers violated traffic rules from January to December, while in 2021, 97 drivers were caught during the same period. The Delhi Traffic Police are running various programmes to raise awareness among drivers, students, and teachers. The police have visited over 6,000 schools and made nearly 8,000 school bus and van drivers aware of road safety rules. Additionally, 4.1 million students and 38,595 teachers were also educated about traffic rules. The most common violations by drivers include driving rashly and dangerously, changing lanes, driving in the wrong direction, taking shorter routes to avoid longer detours, illegal parking, and carrying more children in the van than allowed.
