DelhiDesk: The Reserve Bank of India has announced that the printing of Rs 2000 notes has been stopped from 2019. This decision comes after the purpose of issuing 2000 rupee notes was fulfilled, following the withdrawal of 500 and 1000 rupee notes in November 2016. The majority of the Rs 2000 denomination notes were issued before March 2017, with Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 6.73 lakh crore prevalent in the market till March 2018. However, this is expected to come down to Rs 3.62 lakh crore in 2023, which is only 10.8 percent of the total notes.
