DelhiDesk: Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi has opposed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court seeking 10% reservation for economically weaker section (EWS) students in terms of a 2019 amendment to the Constitution. The university said that as a minority institution it is not covered under the policy, according to an affidavit filed in response to the petition. The government has issued an office memorandum for EWS reservation in central educational institutions, but Jamia said the reservation would not be applicable to the university in terms of the memorandum.
