DelhiDesk: The Delhi Jal Board is working on building 56 lakes, out of which 35 have been built and the work is ongoing on nine. The Delhi government aims to make Delhi the city of lakes to tackle the shortage of drinking water. In addition, 380 water bodies are also being constructed. The project is estimated to cost around 93 crores. The board has also started developing artificial lakes and purifying sewage treatment plant water to increase the groundwater level. The ground water level has increased by 6.25 meters in many places, while in some areas, it had gone down by 20 meters. Soon, tube wells and RO machines will be installed in these areas. The plan to use rainwater will improve the level and quality of groundwater and use it.
