The campaign was initiated on the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who instructed that there should be no compromise with the health of the people. Measures such as checking, lab testing and awareness campaigns were proposed to prevent adulteration. The education department was instructed to sensitize students against adulteration in morning prayer meetings, while licensing and registration for the sale of food items were made mandatory. The meeting was attended by officials including the Additional Chief Secretary of Social Security, Women and Child Development and the Principal Secretary of Agriculture.
