In a welcome move, the Haryana government has announced the closure of approximately 8 toll plazas in various regions of the state in the upcoming year.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal made this announcement himself during a press conference, highlighting the government’s decision to shut down seven toll plazas operated by PWD (Public Works Department) and one other toll plaza. The rationale behind this decision? To provide relief to the people of Haryana! 🚗💨
Here’s a closer look at the toll plazas that will soon be history:
1. Kurukshetra Toll Plaza (NH-19): Located on the Pehowa-Patiala Punjab border, this toll plaza will be one of the first to close its gates. 🌅
2. Saundh Toll Plaza (Hodal-Nuh-Pataudi Road): Serving as an obstruction-free route, this toll plaza’s days are numbered. ⛔
3. Three Toll Plazas on Chharauda and Pathredi Roads: These three plazas, situated on Chharauda and Pathredi roads, will soon be part of Haryana’s toll history. 🚧🚧🚧
4. Sunehra Toll Plaza (Nuh-Jhurheda Road): The golden days of this toll plaza are coming to an end, offering a smooth ride ahead. 🌞🚗
5. Badotia and Bamanwali Toll Plazas (Rai-Nahar-Bahadurgarh Road): These plazas on the Rai-Nahar-Bahadurgarh Road will soon be a thing of the past. 🏚️
6. Bandhwadi Toll Plaza (Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-Sohna Road): Residents of Faridabad can rejoice as this toll plaza’s gates will soon be closed for good. 🎉
7. Alihpur Tigada and Bivan Toll Plazas (Firozpur Jhirka-Biwani Road): The toll collection at these plazas will cease, offering a smoother commute. 🚫
While most of these toll plazas are expected to be shut down by early 2024, the closure of some may take a bit longer, depending on their existing contracts. Chief Minister Manohar Lal clarified that contracts of toll plazas operated by the Public Works Department (PWD) will be terminated after January 2024. As for those toll plazas whose contracts expire in 2024 or at the end of the year, they will also be closed down accordingly. 📆🔒
Notably, there was no mention of the Khedki Daula Toll Plaza during the press conference. Residents of Gurugram have been eagerly awaiting the removal of this toll plaza for several years. Despite a promise made by the Chief Minister in February 2021 to close it within six months, the wait continues. 🤔⏳
Haryana commuters can finally breathe a sigh of relief as these toll plazas become history, potentially saving them a staggering ₹22.48 crore in annual taxes. 🙌💰
Stay tuned for updates on when these toll plazas will officially bid farewell to the roads of Haryana! 🛣️👋
