India is set to enhance its transportation infrastructure with several expressways scheduled to open in 2025, aiming to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and boost economic growth across various regions.

Delhi–Dehradun Expressway

The 210 km Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is slated to open in January 2025. This expressway will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from the current 6.5 hours to approximately 2.5 hours.

Notably, it features a 12 km elevated wildlife corridor to minimize environmental impact. The project, developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of ₹13,000 crore, is expected to boost tourism and local economies.

Faridabad–Jewar Airport Expressway

A new greenfield expressway connecting Faridabad to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar is anticipated to be ready by June 2025. This expressway will facilitate seamless connectivity to the airport, promoting regional development and easing traffic congestion in the National Capital Region.

Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway (National Expressway 6)

The 62 km Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway is expected to open in June 2025. This expressway will connect the cities of Lucknow and Kanpur, reducing travel time and supporting economic activities between these major urban centers.

Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

The ambitious 1,386 km Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is projected to be fully operational by March 2025. As of December 2024, approximately 630 km of the expressway is open to traffic. Once completed, it will halve the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai, enhancing trade and commerce between the two major cities.

Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway

The Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway, spanning approximately 519 km, is expected to be completed by 2025. This four-lane (expandable to six) access-controlled greenfield expressway will connect Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh with Siliguri in West Bengal, passing through Bihar. It aims to reduce travel time from 14-15 hours to 8-9 hours, fostering economic growth in the regions it traverses.

Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway

The Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway is scheduled for completion by August 2025. The Karnataka section of the expressway opened in December 2024, with the remaining sections expected to be operational by mid-2025. This expressway will reduce travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai from 7-8 hours to approximately 2-3 hours, enhancing connectivity between these major southern cities.
