In a move aimed at enhancing the fuel economy and affordability of its compact SUV, Nissan Motor India has introduced a CNG retrofitment kit for its popular Magnite model. Priced at ₹74,999, the kit can be installed at government-certified, authorised fitment centres, bringing a certified, safe alternative fuel solution to customers.
🔧 Developed by Motozen, Backed by Warranty Up to 1 Lakh Km
The CNG kit has been developed and tested by Motozen, a third-party component manufacturer, which will also be responsible for warranty and claims support. Customers will receive a three-year or 1,00,000-km warranty on the CNG components. The entire conversion process will follow standardised procedures to meet all safety norms and local government regulations.
📍 Initial Rollout in 7 States, Pan-India Launch to Follow
For now, the CNG retrofitment will only be available in select states:
-
Delhi-NCR
-
Uttar Pradesh
-
Maharashtra
-
Gujarat
-
Haryana
-
Kerala
-
Karnataka
Nissan has stated that the service will be expanded to additional regions in Phase II of the rollout through its official dealership network.
🚗 Available Only for 1.0L NA Petrol Manual Variants
The CNG upgrade is exclusively compatible with 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine variants of the Magnite, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Turbocharged and automatic variants are currently not eligible for this conversion.
Despite the change in fuel system, the Magnite’s interior, exterior, and feature list remain unchanged. The key advantage of the conversion lies in improved fuel efficiency and lower running costs.
💼 Competing in the Growing CNG Segment
The Magnite CNG will compete directly with rivals such as the:
-
Tata Punch CNG
-
Hyundai Exter CNG
It will be sold across six trims, with prices ranging between ₹6.89 lakh to ₹10.02 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch comes shortly after similar CNG offerings were introduced for the Renault Kwid, Kiger, and Triber in February 2025.
🌐 Global Presence Continues
Nissan Magnite remains a global model, sold in over 65 international markets in both left-hand and right-hand drive formats. It continues to offer 55+ safety features, making it a competitive choice in the compact SUV space.
💬 Nissan Speaks: Enhancing Value and Practicality
Speaking on the occasion, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said:
“The New Nissan Magnite has been a phenomenal product for us and has led the success story in India. To meet evolving customer needs, we are now offering a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit through our authorised dealer network. We are confident that this initiative will significantly boost the Magnite’s practicality and appeal.”
