Noida International Airport: Runway Ready, ATC Tower Handover, Trial Runs Possible in October. Runway Completion and ATC Tower Handover

Great news for Noida International Airport! The 3,900-meter-long runway is finally complete. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower has also been handed over to the Airports Authority of India. This marks a significant milestone in the airport’s construction progress.

Vendor Increase to Speed Up Roof Structure Work

To expedite the remaining work, the number of vendors involved in preparing the steel framework for the terminal building’s roof has been doubled from four to eight. This increase aims to speed up the process, making it feasible to start trial runs for aircraft in October.

Trial Runs and Future Plans

There’s a strong possibility that the trial runs for flights will commence in October. The developer company is scheduled to present its action plan on July 15, outlining the strategy to start flight operations by December. Initially, the plan was to begin flights on September 29, 2024, but the timeline has been adjusted.

Government and Developer Commitment

Despite delays caused by incomplete roofing work, both the state government and the developer company are committed to ensuring that flights start by December. The developer company has assured that they will present their strategy on July 15 to fast-track the remaining tasks.

March and April Trial Run Delays

Earlier plans to conduct trial runs in March and April were postponed due to the incomplete runway and ATC tower. However, with these critical components now ready, the focus is on completing the terminal building and other essential tasks.

Inspection by Former Chief Secretary

Recognizing the project’s importance, former Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra inspected the construction site on June 28. This visit underscores the high-level attention and importance given to this ambitious project.

Speeding Up Terminal Building Work

The development company is accelerating the completion of the terminal building’s roof and other pending works to meet the December deadline. The primary goal is to start domestic flights as soon as possible.
