Toyota and Hyundai to Launch New Micro SUVs
In the wake of the Tata Punch launch, the micro SUV segment has become increasingly popular. Recognizing this trend, car manufacturers like Hyundai and Toyota are now preparing to enter this segment. Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched its small SUV, the Frox, and now Toyota is also preparing to launch a new SUV that may be available to see during the festive season. Hyundai Exter
Hyundai’s micro SUV, the Exter, is already available for booking and will come in five trims. The car will feature two fuel options, petrol and CNG, with a 1.2L petrol engine generating 83bhp of power and 114Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the CNG variant will generate 69bhp of power and 95.2Nm of peak torque. The car will offer both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission options and is expected to be available in six monotone and three dual-tone shades. The Exter is expected to be Hyundai India’s cheapest SUV, with prices starting from INR 600,000.
Toyota Coupe SUV
Toyota is also preparing to launch its new micro SUV, the Fox SUV’s rebadged version, in the second half of 2023. The car may feature some cosmetic changes to its design, and it is possible that it will borrow some design elements from the Yaris Cross, which is available in European markets. The interior layout and features are expected to be similar to the Frox. The new Toyota micro SUV will feature a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, both equipped with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid technology.
